#votingmatters is a new campaign from #Emilymatters. which champions gender equality and encourages young women to vote, ensuring that legacies of women, such as suffragette Emily Davison, are not forgotten.

For Emily Davison’s birthday on Saturday 11th October we asked for #DearLauren messages to a first time voters as well as #votingmatters photos and clips as a means to raise awareness of our democratic right, which Emily and many others fought so hard to obtain for future generations of women.
There was a terrific response and we’ve collected all the responses sent in via social media on this storify.
