#Emilymatters – Emma Watson – Onwards Together!
E M M A W A T S O N – O N W A R D S T O G E T H E R
Emma Watson deliverd a game-changing speech on feminism at the UN:
Why has the word become such an unpopular one? I think it is right I am paid the same as my male counterparts. I think it is right that I should make decisions about my own body. I think it is right that women be involved on my behalf in the policies and decisions that affect my life. I think it is right that socially, I am afforded the same respect as men.
This is exactly what Emily Wilding Davison was campaigning about, over 100 years ago – and we’ve still such a long way to go.

We may have come a long way since Emily Davison campaigned for women’s suffrage and gender equality. However, there is still so much to be done and not just in the UK.
Take up the suffragettes’ call to action ‘DEEDS NOT WORDS!‘ and choose a campaign/campaigns that matter to you and get actively involved. There are so many now on social media, not least:

And our new #votingmatters project, which was set up to encourage women and especially young women to register and use their vote.

You can also get involved with organisations such as:
Women’s Aid – National charity working to end domestic violence against women and children.
Go Girls Wales – A project about girls coming together and empowering each other.
Child Eyes – Campaigning to protect children from sexual images in public.
Fawcett Society – the UK’s leading charity for women’s equality and rights.
Let’s do this!
