The UK general election takes place on Thursday 7th May<\/strong> and the @Emilymatters<\/strong><\/a> team wants to encourage as many young people and women to vote as possible.<\/p>\n

The outcome of this election remains uncertain. Every vote matters.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The good news is that 70% of young people<\/a><\/strong> are reported to have registered to vote, but voter turn out cannot be taken for granted. In 2010, just 39%<\/strong> of young women aged 18 to 24 voted and 9.1 million<\/strong> women chose not to vote.<\/p>\n

I believe that social media has had a immensely positive impact on the number of voter registrations, especially for first time voters. But people still need to vote.<\/p>\n
