#votingmatters<\/strong><\/a> is a new campaign from #Emilymatters.<\/strong><\/a> which champions gender equality and encourages young women to vote, ensuring that legacies of women, such as suffragette Emily Davison\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> are not forgotten.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s less than 6 months to the UK general election.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The #votingmatters<\/a>\u00a0 social media campaign was inspired by the women I spoke to at the Scottish Independence Referendum. Scotland continues to lead the way when the new First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon<\/strong><\/a>, announced a new cabinet with a 50\/50 gender balance<\/strong> and pledging to put equality at the heart of government.<\/p>\n

#votingmatters globally<\/strong>, the launch of the campaign in time for Emily Davison’s birthday<\/strong><\/a>, included tweets, photos and #DearLauren<\/strong><\/a> messages to a first time voter from the around the world.<\/p>\n

It’s interesting to hear what is\/isn’t working around the world. Together we can make a positive difference, just like the suffragettes, whose creativity and solidarity saw them through the worst of times and brought about change for good.<\/p>\n
