#Emilymatters<\/strong> supports gender equality<\/strong> campaigns, including\u00a0Emily Thornberry MP<\/b>\u2018s<\/a>\u00a0important campaign for a statue of suffragette Emily Davison to be erected in the Houses of Parliament,\u00a0No More Page 3<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a05050Parliament<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as well as the work of organisations such as\u00a0NAWO<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(National Alliance of Women\u2019s Organisations).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Because Emily Davison campaigned for a more equal society, not just the vote.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The To Freedom’s Cause<\/strong><\/a> band of committed volunteers worked closely with Emily Thornberry<\/strong>\u2019s team on an historic event (in support of her Emily Davison statue in Parliament campaign) that took place in the House of Commons on 13 February 2014.<\/p>\n

Drawing on Emily Davison’s innovative use of media, To Freedom’s Cause<\/strong> playwright, Kate Willoughby created #Emilymatters<\/strong> as part of an extensive social media campaign in the weeks leading up to the event, which\u00a0highlighted gender equality<\/strong> issues, including the importance of the statue campaign and promoted a debate about the continued relevance of the campaign for equality.<\/p>\n

The event helped to boost the momentum of Emily Thornberry’s campaign\u00a0and you can play a part in making it happen.<\/p>\n
