Deeds AND Words – #votingmatters
D E E D S A N D W O R D S – # V O T I N G M A T T E R S
#votingmatters is a new campaign from #Emilymatters. which champions gender equality and encourages young women to vote, ensuring that legacies such as suffragette Emily Davison’s are not forgotten.
Join us & encourage first time voters to register and use their hard won right to vote at the next general election:
– Tell us why #votingmatters to you
– Encourage a potential first time voter with #DearLauren
WHO is Lauren?
Lauren is a student in Glasgow. As a seventeen year old, she was a first time voter in the Independence Referendum.
Lauren said she was an undecided voter in the Independence Referendum, but had a very different view take on politics in general:
“I don’t really care … I’m not really interested in it. I think it’s very boring.”
– Lauren, Glasgow
Find out more and hear Lauren’s story in her own words.
WHY bother?
Because Lauren is not alone.
At the last general election only 39% of young women aged 18-24 voted, whilst just 20% of BAME young women used their right to vote.
Why does this matter to you? If you care about the future, about equality and human rights – and if you vote – then it’s time to act with Deeds AND Words.
We’re on:
No vote = no voice.
We’ll be sharing your ideas and thoughts on social media in the lead up to Emily Davison’s birthday on Saturday 11th October.
Please share & keep spreading the word. #Emilymatters hopes to do Emily Davison proud by bringing together a personal & positive message about why #votingmatters to you and why young voters like Lauren should care.
There’s no time to lose – Deeds AND Words!
